Do you have a neighborhood business? If so, Accelerate Dayton may be for you. The Accelerate Dayton program is looking for one entrepreneur from each quadrant of the city (northeast, southeast, southwest and northwest) to receive up to $10,000 in consulting services to help grow your business!
The program will select up to one entrepreneur from each quadrant to receive up to $10,000 in consulting services that will address the development and implementation of a business plan. Please note: Winners will NOT receive any cash prize.
The program is open to home-based entrepreneurs and small neighborhood businesses that are owned and operated by Dayton residents and located in the city of Dayton. Businesses must be in compliance with applicable regulations, including the City’s Zoning Code and the Ohio Building Code. The business and/or the business owner cannot have any delinquent business or property taxes.
How it Works
Each application will be evaluated by a review panel. The panel will select up to eight finalists based on the business model and the potential benefit to the community. The selected entrepreneurs will be invited to attend a Saturday morning “pitch event” where they will meet with City staff and local business support organizations. Those entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to talk about their businesses and network with business experts, as well as the other business owners.
After the event, the review panel will select up to four top entrepreneurs, one from each quadrant of the city, who will be matched with a business advisor (or coach) to develop an action plan for their business. Once a final action plan is approved in writing by the City, those top business will receive up to $10,000 of contracted business development services. After six months, each business will submit a brief report showing the results of the program.
